Why Milio is favored

Milio's shields and healing soften Zyra's repeated plant poke, while Zyra needs to land Grasping Roots(E) to create a reliable kill window. Milio can also clear her plants with an attack and save Breath of Life(R) for the root, helping him neutralize her usual lane pressure in lower elo.

How to play as Milio

Use shields to blunt Zyra's Q-and-plant poke, and keep Q available to peel if she or her ADC commits. Save R for a root that would otherwise start a burst trade; it cannot remove Zyra's ultimate knock-up.

Warm Hugs(E) and Cozy Campfire(W) help absorb and recover from Zyra's repeated plant poke; Zyra players describe her damage-over-time as much less effective into Milio's shields and healing.

Milio can clear Zyra's plants with a single basic attack early, reducing the extra poke they would otherwise provide.

Breath of Life(R) can cleanse Zyra's Grasping Roots(E), but it cannot remove the airborne knock-up from Stranglethorns(R).

How to play as Zyra

Use Q and plants to draw out Milio's shield charges before committing to Grasping Roots(E) on him or his ADC. If the lane is not winnable, Zyra mains recommend using her stronger roam pressure instead of forcing repeated trades into Milio's shields.
