Use a thrown Comet Spear(Q) to break Void Shift(P) before engaging with Shield Vault(W); do not spend the stun while Malzahar still has his passive protection.

Once Malzahar reaches level 6, avoid forcing a solo all-in while Nether Grasp(R) is available; farm safely and use Grand Starfall(R) to join a side-lane play when he pushes you in.

A thrown Comet Spear(Q) can remove Void Shift(P), leaving Malzahar open to Pantheon's follow-up stun from Shield Vault(W).
