Vel'Koz vs Pyke Support Matchup

Vel'Koz Support wins 49.6% of 1,469 Low Elo games against Pyke Support, -1.4 points vs expected, 2-patch window 26.19-26.20.

Researched on LoL patch 26.20. Tips are written to hold at any rank; stats come from Low Elo ranked games up to patch 26.20.

How to play as Vel'Koz

Keep minions between you and Pyke's hook, and hold Tectonic Disruption(E) for when he commits instead of spending it casually on poke. Players report that preventing his engage is more reliable than trying to kill him.

Do not chase Pyke through fog just to match a roam; protect your lane position and follow only when the route is safe, since Pyke can create pressure faster across the map.

Pyke's Bone Skewer(Q) can pull Vel'Koz into engage range, and Phantom Undertow(E) can stun along its return path; Vel'Koz is safest when he keeps space and preserves his knock-up.
