Viego vs Master Yi Jungle Matchup

Viego Jungle wins 50.2% of 8,066 Low Elo games against Master Yi Jungle, +0.9 points vs expected, 2-patch window 26.19-26.20.

Researched on LoL patch 26.20. Tips are written to hold at any rank; stats come from Low Elo ranked games up to patch 26.20.

How to play as Viego

Hold Spectral Maw(W) until Yi finishes Alpha Strike(Q), then charge and stun him as he reappears; Viego players specifically recommend saving W for that moment.

Spectral Maw(W) can stun Yi after Alpha Strike(Q) ends; if Viego throws it while Yi is untargetable, the stun can miss and the opening is lost.

Viego's Sovereign's Domination(P) grants a possession after a takedown, while Highlander(R) extends on Yi's kills and assists, so both junglers can snowball quickly once the first takedown lands.

How to play as Master Yi

Use Alpha Strike(Q) to make Viego's Spectral Maw(W) miss, then punish while it is unavailable; avoid committing before you know whether Viego has held his stun.
