Check whether Lulu still has Whimsy(W) before committing to a close-range trade, especially when her carry can follow; wait for her disable or shield to be used before spending your weapon combo.

Whimsy(W) prevents an enemy from attacking or casting spells, while Help, Pix!(E) can shield Lulu's ally; together these tools can interrupt Aphelios's trade and absorb some of his follow-up damage.
