Ryze vs Katarina Mid Matchup

Ryze Mid wins 48.0% of 860 Low Elo games against Katarina Mid, +1.1 points vs expected, 2-patch window 26.19-26.20.

Researched on LoL patch 26.20. Tips are written to hold at any rank; stats come from Low Elo ranked games up to patch 26.20.

How to play as Ryze

Turn as soon as Katarina's Bouncing Blade(Q) hits you so the dagger lands away from your path; this makes it harder for her to pick it up for the slash. (Unverified: no source confirms this note.)

Crash the second or third wave and pressure Katarina while she collects minions under her tower; Ryze players recommend using the early levels to punish melee mids.

After Bouncing Blade(Q) bounces, Katarina's dagger lands on the ground; picking it up triggers Voracity(P)'s slash around her.
