Why Azir is favored
Azir holds a heavy advantage because his Sand Soldier basic attacks ignore Wind Wall completely, allowing Azir to strip Yasuo's shield and win trades from outside dash range while threatening an Emperor's Divide shuffle under tower if Yasuo dives.
How to play as Yasuo
Look for all-in trades specifically when Azir misuses Conquering Sands forward: dash through the minion wave immediately with Sweeping Blade onto him while his soldiers are out of position and his reposition is on cooldown.
Hold Wind Wall rather than blocking Azir's soldier poke; save it to block Conquering Sands' reposition dash or to intercept Emperor's Divide when diving or trading ults.
Wind Wall prematurely halts both the soldier dash of Conquering Sands and the soldier charge of Emperor's Divide upon collision.
How to play as Azir
Poke purely by spawning Sand Soldiers and basic attacking to pop Yasuo's passive shield; never use Conquering Sands while Yasuo has minion dash targets available, saving Q strictly for when he disengages.
Freeze the wave right outside your turret and stand away from your own minion line: this starves Yasuo of Sweeping Blade mobility and sets him up to get shoved into tower with Emperor's Divide if he attempts an EQ dive.
Sand Soldier basic attacks are area-of-effect stabs and not projectiles, so they completely bypass Yasuo's Wind Wall.
Azir cannot cast Emperor's Divide to interrupt Yasuo's Last Breath once airborne, but can cast it during Yasuo's Sweeping Blade dash animation before the airborne connects.
